Standards

The Forum members are directly involved in setting standards for the industry, not only in quality assurance, but also in the active participation on appropriate committees. The greatest effort is probably through the British Standards organisation where documents are drafted, not only for UK use but also for consideration as European Standards on which there is also active participation.

UPDATED: 23/11/21

The main committees are:

B/509/50 The British Standard Technical Committee responsible for Lighting Columns.

CEN/TC/50 The European Technical Committee responsible for Lighting Columns.

The Lighting Column Sector Scheme Committee responsible for the National Sector Scheme 6 for columns.

The ILE Technical Committee with responsibility for disseminating technical issues to the industry through its professional network.

The most essential British and European Standards are given below relating to the lighting column industry.
